| Further Information: Lepista nuda (Bull. ex Fr.) Cooke (syn = Clitocybe nuda, Rhodopaxillus nudus, Tricholoma nuda) is often found associated with coniferous and deciduous trees. It has a distinct dull greyish-purple caps, 6-12cm across, with paler stems swollen or bulbous at the base. This mushroom have gills and owns a perfumed fruity smell. Although Wood Blewits are not poisonous, similar-looking species of Cortinarius are poisonous, and extra care must be taken when eating wild mushrooms. The spore print is ash grey to pink. Wood blewits feeds on leaf litter and is found in woodland areas in Europe and North America, also introduced in Australia.
